How DESUN’s Critical Care Team delivers stunning clinical outcomes!

Constantly implementing techniques based on latest global standards has transformed DESUN Hospital Services from Good to Great!
In the previous issue of DESUN Update we had discussed about the measures taken by DESUN for successful Joint Replacement Surgery. In this issue we will discuss about success story of Radial Angiography & Angioplasty

·       Patient saved due to Radial Angioplasty  at DESUN

Mr. Kamal Roy, 50 yrs male, hypertensive & smoker was brought to DESUN Hospital at midnight with chest pain, low BP & respiratory distress. He was immediately rushed to the ICU. The Critical Care team swung into action for initial management. He was put on Oxygen. His ECG & Trop-T revealed that he had suffered a massive heart attack. The expert team of fulltime cardiologists administered Inj Morphine, Lasix and Dobutamine.
Once the patient was stable the cardiologists decided to perform a coronary angiography through Radial Route. The outcome of the report was that a significant narrowing of one major artery (LAD) and one branch artery (D1). But, the major artery had a good flow. The side branch was left untouched. So, treating this side branch (D1) with another medicated stent was difficult. The doctors performed the complicated one by putting stent on the branch artery (D1). After 72 hours in the ICU the patient was shifted to the ward. There he stayed for two days and was discharged in a stable condition.
·       What is Radial Angiography ?

Radial Angiography or Radial Catherization is an endovascular procedure which diagnoses and treats arterial disease.
·        Advantages of Radial Angiography :
·        The initial insertion of the needle through radial route is very simple
·        The patient do not have to lie flat for 4 - 6 hours
·        There is no manual painful compression of the artery to curve the bleeding
·        The radial artery is not close to a major nerve
·        The patient is very satisfied with the trans radial approach
·        The procedure is also cost effective

Is the Radial Angiography for Everyone?

A few pre-requisites for patients for the trans-radial approach is
·        Confirmation of a dual or protected blood supply to the hand
·        The Radial and ulnar arteries supply blood to the hand and fingers

Why Desun is preferred for Radial Angiography &Angioplasty?

Desun Hospital performs the sophisticated procedures through superior clinical skills which makes the patient comfortable and the process faster.
·       Availability of experts round the clock 365 days to handle each and every complex, acute emergency cases through radial interventions
·       The Cardiologist decides the radial approach through an Allen’s test which confirms normal functioning of radial and  ulnar arteries
·       Latest generation Cath Lab for 100% success in Radial Angiography and Angioplasty by better image resolution
·       Highly skilled team of cardiologist and cathlab personnel
·       Less chance of haematoma
·       Less injection of contrast dye
·       Faster mobility
·       Less radiation exposure
